How the machine works, in the order it matters. Every number here is the one sealed in the contract — where they differ, the contract is the truth.
What this is
Gacha Hood sells sealed packs of real merchandise. Every pack resolves to one physical item that already exists in our vault — there is no blank, no consolation, and nothing minted against stock we do not hold.
What you receive first is a token: an onchain claim on one specific item. You can hold it, sell it, swap it back for cash inside the first 10 minutes, or burn it to have the physical item shipped to you.
Odds
Every weight is written into the pack contract and sealed before the first pull. Sealing is one-way: no weight can be edited afterwards, by us or anyone else. Adding more inventory to a SKU does not change any probability, because each pull is an independent roll against the same table.
Silver guarantees every outcome is worth at least the pack price. Gold, Black and Hood trade that guarantee for a 20% chance of beating the price, funded by outcomes that land below it.
Randomness
Outcomes are drawn from a pre-committed hash chain. Before any pack is sold we publish the head of a chain of hashes onchain. Each pull consumes the next preimage, and anyone can verify it hashes to the value committed earlier.
Because the chain is fixed in advance, no outcome can be selected after your pull exists — not by us, and not by whoever operates the reveal. Your own browser also mixes in entropy at open time, so the operator alone cannot steer a result.
Instant swap
For 10 minutes after a pull you can sell any non-grail item straight back for a fixed share of its face value — 75% on Silver, 80% on the other three tiers. The rate is frozen onto the token when it is minted, so a later change to our published rate can never rewrite an offer you already hold.
Ten minutes is a decision timer, not a holding period — take the cash now or keep the item. Swaps are paid from a dedicated treasury and are best-effort inside that window: a daily cap protects the float, and grails have no swap at all. Selling a grail means selling it to another person.
Miss it and nothing is lost. The item is simply vaulted: still yours, still redeemable for the physical piece forever, still sellable on the marketplace, and still dissolvable for Shard credit for 72 hours after the pull.
Redeeming the physical item
Burning the token queues the real item for shipping. The fee is a flat $60 in USDG, or $100 for a grail, which ships hand-packed and insured.
Your address never touches the chain. It is encrypted in your own browser against the warehouse's public key before it is sent, and the contract records nothing but an opaque reference. We cannot read a stored address without the private key, which lives with the warehouse operator rather than on our servers.
Grails
47 grails exist across the whole of Series 01. They are hand-numbered and never reprinted — that number is the product, so unlike ordinary stock they can never be restocked, and the contract has no function that would let us.
Each grail is a full set of the series' items plus one sealed mystery piece. A grail pull also awards the tier's floor item, so a grail is never worth less than an ordinary pull of that tier.
Where the money sits
Pack revenue splits at the moment of sale: most goes to a revenue vault that can only ever pay out to a single configured address, and the rest tops up the buyback treasury that funds swaps. The two are separate contracts on purpose — sweeping every cent of revenue cannot touch the float backing an outstanding swap offer.
